Possibly my favorite picture ever.

Possibly my favorite picture ever.

This was Christmas day, and this kind of sums up life right now.  I love my husband, my daughter… I am content with whatever else comes.

Day 4

4: Songs you listen to when you are happy, sad, bored, excited, mad

I was sick yesterday and missed this one because I wanted to actually have the songs available for your listening pleasure 🙂

Happy – 17 Years by Ratatat

Sad – Hear You Me, Jimmy Eat World (ProjectPlaylist has the name wrong, but the song right…)

Bored – Oxford Comma, Vampire Weekend

Excited -Big Girl, Mika

Mad – Blue & Yellow, The Used

I tried to post a playlist, but I don’t know where it went… I’m not very good at these things!

Day 3

3: A picture of somewhere you’ve been

Well, yesterday should’ve been day 3, but I missed it because I was being somewhere!

20111114-150113.jpg

Nora, Ben and I had a lovely day in the OKC metro area. We delivered a washer and dryer to Anne and Adam, Ben’s sister and brother-in-law, where Nora attempted to learn how to climb stairs. She made it up one unassisted!

We did a little shopping, and wandered around Bass Pro Shop. We attempted a picture with Santa, but Nora was not a fan and I did not want to sit on Santa’s lap which was the suggested remedy! Maybe next year… Nora got a raccoon out of the deal, though, after daddy talked her out of the teddy bear in pink hooded real tree coveralls! The raccoon is pretty darn cute, but we both tried to encourage her to choose an otter… She was not interested!

Then we took a walk around by the water! Nora was a big fan of the duckies. Many quacks were exchanged.

So, that’s not the most exciting somewhere, but it was wonderful to me!

Day 2

2: The meaning behind your blog name/ your blogging history

The meaning behind my blog… The husBen and I were talking with his parents one day about high school. The in-laws decided when Ben and his sister were in high school that they would give up their large bedroom to make a safe, somewhat supervised place where their kids and their friends could hang out. Several of their friends spent most of their time while not at the Ezzell house talking about how cool the Ezzells were. Things like “and their kids call them by their first names!” were often thrown around. I knew of Ben and Anne and Cheri and David well before I’d met any of them just from their reputation. Anyway, I digress. We were discussing this at the same time Ben was encouraging me to start a blog, so here we are!

As far as blogging history, I had a Xanga in high school. I can’t remember what the name even was! I’ll have to look it up sometime 🙂

Day 1

Okay, so I posted the challenge and didn’t actually post day 1 yesterday…

1: A recent picture of you and 10 facts about yourself

20111111-105422.jpg

I got my hair cut yesterday! Ignore the nursing baby, hehe

1. My number one fact in these kinds of things always seems to be that I can lick my own elbow. It’s my party trick. I’n a super exciting person.

2. I am all about surprises. I will beat you down if you try to spoil my Christmas presents!

3. I spent my whole pregnancy preparing myself for the possibility of an ugly baby. I had come to terms with it, I was totally prepared for whatever came. I secretly think that may be why she is so stunning…

4. I had my feet broken when I was a baby because of tibular torsion. I had the ultrasound techs double check Nora’s feet and it was one of the first things I asked about when she was born.

5. I love to read but haven’t had much time since the little one appeared.

6. I used to have a pet pygmy goat. We also had chickens growing up and for awhile my parents bred Brittany Spaniels.

7. Being a wife and a mommy has been my goal since I can remember. There’ve always been other things, too, but that never changed. I love every minute.

8. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and hate it. I haven’t been on meds since I got pregnant with Nora, though. I hope I can find a way to stay away from them, but only time will tell. The cold weather is pretty awful.

9. I wish I had a good creative outlet. I don’t have much follow through, though, as I may have mentioned, haha.

10. I’ve gotten a little flack for my parenting decisions, as I am sure we all do, regardless of what those choices are, but I’m happy with them and will probably repeat if we have another munchkin someday. I’m blessed to have such a supportive and like-minded partner in this whole parenting thing, as well as life!

I have a ridiculously hard time thinking of facts about me. I don’t think I’m that interesting.

So, Day 1 down!

Faces

Nora thinks I’m hilarious when I make faces at her, generally. Sometimes I get a face like this

20111109-153358.jpg

But sometimes the ones closer to these

20111109-153447.jpg

20111109-153508.jpg

The many faces of Nora are hilarious.

20111109-160407.jpg

Last, but certainly not least, I give you the ever-elusive poop face

20111109-160623.jpg

I wish Nora could write a blog and tell me what she thinks of my faces. I wonder often if I adequately convey my feelings to her (and hide some!) through my voice and expressions. I hope I show her how much I love her, how proud I am of her accomplishments, how funny I think she is, how in awe of her I am, how I hurt when she’s hurting. I hope she never knows how anxious I am at all her daredevil moves, how I want to put her in a bubble every time she slips, and how frustrated I admittedly get from time to time over silly things that don’t matter, like pulling down books or smacking the dog. As a friend reminded me today (Wendy!), they’re only young once. It already seems a lifetime ago that I was dreaming up what our child would look like.

Until next time 😉

Nora Log, Day 345

20111108-144403.jpg

“The evil mother overlord’s cruelty knows no bounds. Just this morning, she had the gall to go to the bathroom without allowing me to either sit on her lap and slap her in the face or pull everything off the counter onto myself. I do not know how much more of this I can take, undergoing diaper change after diaper change, being fed various odd foods, forced into nap time, the list goes on. My plans for mobility, however, are well underway, and I do believe the dogs are my allies… They can be easily bought with the smallest morsels from the highchair. I will put these parents in their place and make my way to world domination!”

I sometimes give Nora a monologue. Her character varies. Hope your day is lovely!

I’m Not So Good

I’m not great with follow-through, as those near and dear to me can, unfortunately, attest to. I start feeling like I can’t move forward without perfecting all I’ve missed. I don’t know if that feeling is unique to me, but I’d like to think I’m not the only incredibly imperfect perfectionist. Anyway, I shall blog on!

Things are changing. I am now the mother of a walker.

20111107-111605.jpg

She will be a year old on the 28th. I’m trying so hard to come to terms with this… She grows more every day. I can’t express how amazing it is to show her new things and experience life with her. There’s no part of life that is not better because I am her mother.

The only that matches the blessing of sharing my life’s journey with this angel in human form is continuing to be able to share it, day after day with all the ups and downs with her sweet father

20111107-112316.jpg

I honestly love my life. I’ll try to share it more often 😉
